DESCRIPTION:

Crete Dye is a translucent dye, formulated using very fine particles of color designed to penetrate and color interior cementitious surfaces, including polished concrete (interior version only). Crete Dye creates a unique, multi-colored translucent color scheme that unlike paints, will not crack, chip, or peel. Crete Dye is available in 20 standard colors but can be combined to create an unlimited color palate that creates a similar mottling or marbleized effect, when used properly. Create the look of a beautiful, custom acid stained floor in about 1/3 of the time.

QUICK SURFACE TESTING:

It is recommended to test the proposed concrete surface prior to application. Often times cure & seals are applied to commercial and residential concrete slabs to protect and speed up the cure of the concrete. Testing for cure & seals is very important as Crete Dyes will not easily penetrate the surface of sealed concrete. Although it is not a guaranteed test, it is recommended to pour a few ounces of water onto the surface. If the water stands on the surface of the concrete and does not   penetrate the surface, it is reasonable to say that a cure & seal or some other sort of "blocker" is on the surface. Please note that mechanical means of surface preparation is required to remove the sealer prior to acid staining. If the water penetrates the surface of the concrete with ease, it is reasonable to say that the concrete is stainable.

QUICK STAIN TESTING:

Crete Dyes should be blended with the correct proportion of acetone. This sample should simply be filled with acetone as the dye content is just enough for four finished liquid ounces.  It is recommended to test our dyes only at the recommended blend rate. Once acetone has been added to  this bottle, mix for 30 seconds, allow to sit for 5 minutes, and finally mix again for 30 seconds. Apply ready to use dye in approximately 2"x2" squares using a soft bristle brush or disposable atomizer sprayer. It is recommended to apply in an inconspicuous area. Crete Dyes will dry completely in approximately one minute. Wet the surface simply using water. The wet look will approximate the final look of the desired application. Please note that the dye may rub off the surface if a cure & seal is present.
